Wanted: South Campus Photo Sessions at The University of Georgia

For those of you who went to The University of Georgia, I am sure that you know of the friendly rivalry that exists between north campus students and south campus students at UGA. Basically, north campus houses most of the arts and south campus houses most of the sciences.  North campus is also the oldest part of campus, which means lots of beautiful old oak and magnolia trees, luscious green quads, the Garden Club of Georgia's Founders Memorial Garden, and lots and lots of history...basically a photographers dream!  Here are a couple of shots from north campus photo sessions:

While I love the beauty of north campus, south campus has a lot to offer for photographers too, especially since many of the old streets have been turned into green spaces.  But, I am ashamed to say that, even though I am a proud graduate of the College of Family and Consumer Sciences at UGA (on south campus nonetheless), I have not yet crossed the bridge at Sanford Stadium onto south campus to do a photo session.  As I pondered this driving through campus one day, I thought, "Where could I do a session on south campus?"  Then, just today, I read an article in the Athens Banner-Herald about a "secret" trial garden on south campus.  This sounds like the perfect place to begin a south campus photo session.  

So, if you would like to be one of the first to venture onto south campus with me and my camera, I would love to throw in a complimentary 8 x 10 print or set of 8 wallets just for showing some much-deserved love for south campus.  

Also, if you know of other "secret" places on UGA's campus, I'd love to hear about it in your comments below.

Sneak Peek of Baby O

This family, with their adorable 9 1/2 month old, was so much fun to photograph!  Baby O was happy from beginning 'til end!  I loved watching him interact with mom and dad.  I saw his playful side as he rode on Daddy's shoulders and his cuddly side as he reached for Mommy when he was ready to be done.  He is so precious!  Here are a few of my favorites from the day.

Jamie Calkin: Awesome Athens Artist

While at the Full Bloom Anniversary Party yesterday (see post below), I got to view some of the ink and watercolor prints by Jamie Calkin.  He is an Athens artist that depicts local Athens scenes in his paintings.  Being an Athens resident and a UGA graduate myself, the paintings bring to mind many fond memories of living in this beautiful college town.  They leave me with the feelings of sentiment and nostalgia.  I love his work, so I thought I would share his site with all of you (www.jamiecalkin.com).  Also, Jamie and his wife, Katie, were the ones that organized the event for Full Bloom yesterday.  I really admire their spirit, talent, and heart.

Princess M Sneak Peek

Little Miss M was so much fun to photograph!!  She is just adorable!!Her 2 year old energy and spirit were contagious!  We roamed around Ashley Park, finding cute little photo spots and having fun while we did it.  It was a hot day, but it didn't seem to faze our princess at all.  I think the ice cream may have helped!!

"Fertilizer" for Full Bloom Silent Auction: Win Free Session and Storyboard Collage Panel

Come to the "Fertilizer" for Full Bloom tomorrow, Saturday, June 20, from 10 am to 3 pm and bid on my silent auction item, a free outdoor photo session and custom 10 x 20 storyboard collage panel (example above).  It can be displayed on an easel or hung on the wall with a ribbon or raffia.  

The event at Full Bloom sounds like lots of fun, and I am really excited for this fellow Eastside business!  Full Bloom Pregnancy and Early Parenting Center is a great resource for new parents offering classes, play groups, advice, and more.  To celebrate their 1 year anniversary, they are hosting "Fertilizer" for Full Bloom, a celebration and fundraiser with live music, a creative market, silent auction, and raffle.  I hope to see you all there!!
